Welcome Back after Spring Break
Email sent to parents on March 25
I just wanted to welcome you back after spring break and share some “news” with our school community. I was informed on the last day before the break that some Elementary schools would be receiving additional administrative support (if they requested it) in light of the work load this school year. I was happy to hear that Mr. John Gottschalk (Gott-Shock) will be helping me with my duties on Monday’s the rest of this school year.
Mr. Gottschalk is a retired Elementary School Administrator who worked most recently at Ten Broeck Elementary. He was hired by the School District in his retirement to work as a Administrator mentor and as a Robert Bateman Golf Academy coach. Mr. Gottschalk has been my district mentor (all administrators are required to have a mentor) for the past 3 years. I was fortunate to coach his son on the Rick Hansen Secondary football and rugby teams early in my teaching career. I obviously was very excited to find out Mr. Gottschalk would be helping me as I have known him for over 20 years and am aware how passionate he is about teaching, learning, and working with students in a positive way. For security and welcoming purposes, please see attached photo of him.
I am looking forward to the next 13 weeks of school and know we will make it the best we possibly regardless of the circumstances.
I would like to remind everyone that our Safety Procedures and Protocols remain the same at this time. See Auguston's Restart Plan and Public Health Guidelines for K-12.
As you are aware, the government announced that all school personnel will be receiving a Covid-19 vaccine if they wish in the near future as part of the Provincial vaccination program. I am unaware of any information or news in regards to this at this time.
Rest up and set those alarms! We will see you Monday March 29th! Reminder that the first 2 weeks are 4 day weeks due to Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Sincerely,
Mr. Colbert, Principal Auguston Traditional
