Gr. 5s to The Reach

Div. 1 & 2 Grade 5 classes will go on a field trip to The Reach Gallery Museum on Tuesday, January 28, from 9:30am to 12:20pm.

Education Purpose & Objective 

Through presentations and hands on activities, students will learn about Sumas Lake, early exploration and settlement of Sumas Prairie and discuss the cause and consequence and different perspectives of the drainage of the lake during the 1920s. Social Studies 5 content: the changing nature of Canadian immigration over time, Science 5 - First Peoples concepts of interconnectedness in the environment, the nature of sustainable practices around BC's resources.

Field Trip Details

Students will be travelling by school bus leaving Auguston at 9:30am to arrive at The Reach by 9:50am. Students will be at the museum from 10-12:00pm, leaving the museum at 12pm to arrive back at Auguston by 12:20pm.

Parents are asked to contribute $13 in schoolcash for the cost of the bus and admission *Due Friday, January 24

Approved volunteers* are needed to accompany students on the bus (please indicate this in schoolcash). 

*Please note that in order to volunteer, parents must be approved. This means you have completed the annual volunteer process along with having a Criminal Record Check (lasts 5 years).
