Pumpkin Patch

The students in Divisions 10 to 15 had a fabulous time visiting the school garden pumpkin patch and choosing a pumpkin to use for math and science activities. Special thanks to the parent volunteers who picked up the pumpkins and placed them in the garden. As well, thanks very much to the Auguston PAC for supporting this wonderful event.

Going Home

Harlem arrived at my school in September 2021 with a G4 file as thick as my fist. It stated that he had been in foster care for 11 years, rarely attended school, and could become violent if he became frustrated. He had been in foster care since birth and had been mainly homeschooled by his foster parents who did not value public school or his culture. When I first met him, it became apparent that we were not dealing with a violent or mean child but a soft-spoken, gentle, and curious boy.

Traffic Safety

We have a very busy school property for about 15 minutes at the beginning of the day and again at the end. As student safety is our biggest concern, we ask that you are mindful of our school zone and drive slowly and carefully in front of and around our school. We have had a close call and some concerns brought to light so are wanting to bring this to everyone’s attention. Small children can be unpredictable and run out in crosswalks without looking and are small so are often hard to see.

"No Uni for a Toonie" for the Year

Show your School Spirit

In an effort to streamline and reduce cash* being handled at schools we have set up our “No Uni for a Toonie” days with the option to be paid online in schoolcash. This also makes it easier for parents.

We have established a set number of these days (9 “no uni” days) which means that you would pay 9 x 2 = $18 per child one time only and be good for the year!

Back to School

Welcome back to school! After what has been a busy couple of weeks we are starting to get settled into classes and routines here at Auguston Traditional. It has been wonderful to see the excitement from our students as we move into our new year and as they make new connections with teachers and friends. Being new here as well I can say that this is an amazing school community full of dedicated staff, parents, and volunteers and also some pretty great students. I have really appreciated the warm welcome I have received and am looking forward to an awesome year ahead.
