Auguston Chess Team
The Chief Dan George Chess Tournament on April 1 was a huge success! Over 130 students participated from grades 1 to 12. Thank you to Mr. Glum, Mr. Arnold and all the staff and volunteers from Chief Dan George Middle School for putting on such a first-class competition.
Auguston's team of 30 had a banner day: not only did they take home the team trophy as the best Elementary School, but they also managed to win 12 individual awards along the way!
In grade one, it was a hard-fought match with Bennett E. taking first, Amber A., second, and Ryan C., third. Grade two saw Victor S-P. take the first-place trophy, Cole P. win second, and Ayden F. & Sarah W. tied for third. For grade three, Elizabeth L. prevailed in a play-off round to win first, Gray E. got second, and Zayne M., third. Marcus S. won first prize for the grade four division, while in grade five, Rhylan P. took home the third-place medal. Many thanks go to all the parents and grandparents who came to support their kids, with special thanks to Mrs. Small, Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Potocky, and Mr. Ketelaar for score keeping and coaching.
Our school tournament is still under way, so watch out for the coming announcements about the winners of the lunchtime match!
