Kindergarten Gradual Entry

Email sent to Kindergarten parents on Sep 14, 2026 ~

Thank you so much for such a wonderful start to our school year.  It has been great getting to know our little learners in the smaller group setting.  For the rest of gradual entry, all students will attend at the same time.  To keep things easy, you can bring them to the same drop off spot for Tuesday through Thursday.  We will have Group 1 enter through room 103 and Group 2 enter through room 101 (right next door).

Sept. 15:   All children will attend school for 2 hours 30 min, including a snack/recess break. (8:45 -11:15)  First day for backpacks and lunch kits!

Sept. 16:   All students attend school for 3 hours, including a snack/recess break. (8:45-11:45).

Sept. 17:   All students attend school for 3 hours 30 minutes, including a snack/recess break and a lunch period. (8:45-12:15).

Students will be placed into classes at this point.  Class lists will be emailed to you.

Sept. 18:    All children attend school for 4 hours, including a snack/recess break and a lunch period. (8:45-12:45) Students in Mrs. Puglisi's class will continue to drop off at room 103 and students in Miss Bliss' class will drop off at room 104. (It is on the other side of the building, nearest to the playground.) Please send inside shoes, tissue, soap and headphones.

Sept. 21   Kindergarten students attend school full time (8:40-2:35)

We are less than a week away from the start of the school year!  Thank you to everyone who has signed up for an intake meeting on Tuesday or Wednesday. We are excited to see all of you.  Here are a couple of updates:

  1. For your 15 minute intake meeting and the first three sessions of gradual entry, all students will come to Mrs. Puglisi's classroom.  It is room 103A.  It is on the west side of the school.  If you walk down the gravel path beside the gym, you will find it at the bottom of the hill.  (More information about where to meet for the rest of gradual entry to come.)
  2. We will do our best to stay on schedule.  You can help with this by arriving a few minutes early for your scheduled time.
  3. Students are expected to come to school in dress code for all school planned events (unless otherwise communicated to you).
  4. On the list of supplies for you to send on Sept. 18, please note that one box of tissue is requested. See https://auguston.abbyschools.ca/announcements/kindergarten-auguston
  5. If you are interested in volunteering at the school this year, and you have not previously been approved, please go to https://auguston.abbyschools.ca/parentsstudents/parentvolunteers/auguston to start the Criminal Record Check process.  A criminal record check through the school district is required (lasts 5 years), and they take some time to process. Note that the volunteer process will be updated soon for the 26-27 school year and must be completed each school year.

If you missed the chance to sign up for an intake meeting, please contact the school office (604-557-0422 or [email protected]) or touch base with the teachers on Wednesday to arrange a time that works for your family.

Welcome to Auguston! We are very excited to begin our learning journeys together and look forward to seeing you at the start of school.
