Chess Tournament Winner

Auguston’s chess team had a top notch performance at the annual Chief Dan George Middle School Chess Tournament, held on Saturday, April 18.  Our team of 24 players took home the first place trophy as the best Elementary school. We also won several individual awards: Victor Sanchez Piper finished first in grade 5, with Caleb Akuffo taking home second; in grade 3, Hayeong Seong was second place and Elliot Armstrong finished in third; and for grade 2, Carson Logan earned a third place medal. Congratulations to our whole team and to all the members of the chess club. Well done! And many thanks to the parents who stayed to support our team, and to the teachers who helped supervise the chess club meetings this year, Mrs. Simpson, Mrs. Vandermeer, and Mr. Ketelaar.
