Voice of the Drum Workshop

Feb 9 2024, 9am - 1:20pm
Mamele’Awt Indigenous Education Centre

Grade 5 Indigenous students from across the school district are invited to attend a Voice of the Drum workshop at Mamele’Awt Indigenous Education Centre. Grade 5s moving into Middle School is an important transition. While creating a drum together, students learn about finding their own voice, connecting to their culture, and respect. This transition project offers our students the opportunity to connect and work with peers who will attend the same middle school, as well as the Indigenous Support Workers who will be working with them throughout their Middle School journey.

During the Voice of the Drum Workshop, students will learn about drum teachings, be given a demonstration of how to make a drum, and then they will make their own drum.

Auguston is scheduled to attend the Voice of the Drum Project on February 9 travelling by school bus, along with other Clayburn feeder schools.
