Principal's Message

I would like to thank everyone for such a great start to the 2019-20 School Year.   The PAC welcome of coffee and treats was an important event on the first day of school.  The anticipation of the new school year can bring upon a variety of emotions and having this warm welcome just makes everything that much better!  I told students, staff, and parents who came to our first assembly that it is ok to be “nervous” on the first day of school.  Recognizing our human emotion is something which has changed over the years and it is important to let people know it is ok to have “whatever emotion you are having.”  I then shared how this was my 40th first day of school (see sign I am holding in picture) and I was still nervous when it came to the first day!  When I started Kindergarten in 1979 at Heritage Elementary School in Prince George, BC, little did I know 40 years later, my life would encompass summers off and going for Ice Cream every Labour Day to signify it was time to get back to business in one way or another (I like Skor blizzards with no fudge :)).

As we move forward this year, I know we will continue to build a community that embodies “Courage, Integrity, and Wisdom”.   After being at Auguston for one school year, I feel very fortunate to be the Principal because of the committed staff and parent community who strive every day to provide so many opportunities for students in and outside of the classroom to excel in their area of expertise.

I would like to thank our entire staff for all the preparation work they put into our start up and wishing everyone an amazing 2019-20 school year!
